Pakalveedu

In continuation of the efforts to improve the conditions of the Mental Hospital Thiruvananthapuram, ABHAYA has been involved in the welfare activities within this hospital. In 1988 ABHAYA started the first Day Care Centre in the State for mental patients. It is a unique Day care unit jointly run by ABHAYA and the Govt. Mental Health Centre Thiruvananthapuram. Patients who are cured, those about to be discharged and some who have already been discharged from the hospital, attend Pakalveedu. Music, excursions, exercise, occupational therapy, vocational training all go into the making of the day at Pakalveedu. Free conveyance is provided for the patients.
